10 UNCOMMONLY USED FILIPINO WORDS

Good day welcome to our blog!.. In this blog we will share 10 uncommonly used filipino words. Most of us as filipinos nowadays we’re not aware of uncommon filipino words.

1. Awanggan (infinity)

Definition: a space, amount, or period of time that has no limits or end

sentence ex.: Ang pag-ibig ko sayo’y hanggang sa dulo ng awangan.

2. Dupil (Amulet)

Definition: It is an amulet, or anything that is believed to have the power to save the person who owns it from any harm. The more popular Tagalog words currently being used are anting-anting and agimat.

sentence ex.: Mayroon akong nakitang dupil sa gubat kanina habang ako’y naglalakbay.

3. Durungawan (Window)

Definition: an opening especially in the wall of a building for admission of light and air that is usually closed by casements or sashes containing transparent material (such as glass) and capable of being opened and shut.

sentence ex.: Ang ganda naman ng durungawan niyo Judeth.

4. Kagaw (bacteria)

Defeinition: a microorganism causing disease.

sentence ex.: Ugaliing maghugas ng kamay bago kumain ng hindi magkakagaw ang katawan.

5. Karumlan (Menstrual Period)

Definition: A monthly cycle of adolecent girl of her ovulation period.

sentence ex.: Kailan ang huling karumlan mo?

6. Labaha (Razor)

Definition: a keen-edged cutting instrument for shaving or cutting hair.

sentence ex.: Nako po!, nasira ko ang labaha ni Albert.

7. Pulot-Gata (Honeymoon)

Definition: A trip or vacation taken by a newly married couple, A period of harmony immediately following marriage.

sentence ex.: Pagkatapos ng kasal namin ng asawa ko ay lilipad kami papuntang Paris para sa pulot-gata namin.

8. Sulatroniko (E-mail)

Definition: A system for sending messages from one computer to another computer. : messages that are sent electronically from one computer to another. 

sentence ex.: Nagpadala ako ng sulatroniko kay ate Jana kanina.

9. Sambat (Fork)

Definition: A common tool used in eating that usually has three or four stiff metal points attached to a handle.

sentence ex.: Kumain kami sa isang mamahaling kainan kanina, at ako’y napahiya sapagkat hindi ako marunong gumamit ng sambat.

10. Salipawpaw (airplane)

Definition: a machine that has wings and an engine and that flies through the air.

sentence ex.: Sumakay kami ni nanay Dilya ng salipawpaw pauwi ng Maynila.
